The Bureau of Customs has vowed to improve trade facilitation efforts and mechanisms, in response to changes in the global economy.
In a statement, Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio said the bureau is committed to promoting trade facilitation through new and existing international commitments.
Rubio said this will ensure a more inclusive approach to economic growth and poverty reduction.
Recently, the BOC held the 7th Trade Facilitation Working Group Meeting under the ARISE Plus Philippines Project, funded by the European Union.
This project aims to improve international trade performance and competitiveness and foster inclusive economic growth and poverty reduction in the Philippines.
The meeting aimed to help Customs officials and Trade Regulatory Government Agencies comply with current trade facilitation commitments.
These include the Customs Modernization Tariff Act, the World Trade Organization Trade Facilitation Agreement (WTO TFA), and other trade facilitation initiatives.
Additional training and consultative sessions will be conducted in the second quarter of this year, to enhance the readiness of the BOC and the Philippine Trade Facilitation Committee.
