Baoanan made sure to keep his composure and not let Alinsub -- who ruled the 9-Ball event -- get into his groove as he pocketed IDR 7,000,000 (P250,000) grand prize in the tournament that gathered 128 players.

Before entering the final round, the Sta. Rosa, Laguna cue artist beat fellow Filipino Sean Mark Malayan (8-7) in the semis and Indonesia’s Rico Solo (9-7) and Ismail Kadir (9-6) in the quarterfinals and round of 16, respectively.

He also ousted Ramil Gallego (8-3) as well in Round of 32.

Both players saw themselves in a tight position at 5-all before Baoanan showed crisp shotmaking and chalked up two straight racks to seize a 7-5 advantage.

Alinsub tried to fight back but an illegal touch to the 10th ball spelled doom in the next rack as Baoanan went for the kill.
