The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) responded to a fire at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) on Saturday, April 20, by assisting with the smoke removal and patient transfers.

Based on a DZBB report on Saturday evening, over 100 patients had to be evacuated when the fire broke out at the PGH in Ermita, Manila.
PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon received a call on the night of the fire from PGH Director Gap Legaspi for assistance with patient transfers and smoke relief.
The PRC immediately sent 16 heavy-duty industrial fans to the hospital to help alleviate the discomfort caused by the smoke.
The fan was distributed to different areas within the hospital, including the temporary emergency room (ER), obstetrics, admitting section, and main ER.
The humanitarian organization also deployed volunteers to transport 19 patients to hospitals in other cities, assisted six patients from the pavilion to the atrium, and provided oxygenation to two others.
