"Awit ng Panahon: Noon at Ngayon" unfolds tomorrow, April 21, at Quezon City's New Frontier Theater. What makes it a must-watch is that it pulls together a formidable line-up of OPM greats back-to-back with some of today's promising young artists and singing champs.

Topbilling the concert is the iconic father-and-daughter team of Hajji Alejandro and Rachel Alejandro who will perform a duet of their monster hit "Nakapagtataka."

"I really can't describe to you the feeling and joy of being with your father on stage And to be able to dance, to be able to duet (with him). It's something that I will always, always be grateful for ," Rachel revealed.

Hajji, who was known in his heyday as the "KIlabot Ng Mga Kolehiyala"  agreed with his equally accomplished daughter. "Magkatinginan lang kami ni Rachel, alam na namin. Kumbaga, nagkaka-amuyan kung ano ang gusto naming ibigay sa audience, ganun."

"Awit ng Panahon: Noon at Ngayon" is not just a concert that

will showcase  the ageless vocal prowess of the performers which also includes Gino Padilla, Kris Lawrence,, and surviving members of epic 70s bands like  Hagibis, The Boyfriends, VST and Company.. The show weaves a heartwarming story between a grandfather and his grandchildren, told in a nostalgic, touching narrative. It will be coupled with spectacular visual effects, thanks to the show's producer, Avolution Inc., one of the country's leading suppliers of LED lights.

Rachel pointed out that what the concert seeks to do is to show people, especially the younger generation, that Original Pilipino Music (OPM) is "very much alive" despite the onslaught of foreign influences, like K-Pop.

" I think it's harder to make a hit these days because young listeners are bombarded with music from all over the world. So in a way, there's more competition. So I think kailangang manaig. Yung kailangan talagang super, super, super  lakas ng recall ng kanta. But one thing na masasabi ko is marami pa rin talagang magagandang OPM na lumalabas ngayon," Rachel opined.

"For my part, I just want to share the music to the younger generation. That's why I'm in the concert," added Male Rigor, an original member of VST & Company -  which pioneered the Manila Sound in the 70s.

"I'm fully retired  pero pag nagkasama-sama kasi ang Pinoy, lalo na sa abroad, tapos pinatugtog ang OPM, hindi nawawala ang VST, pati Hotdog, The Boyfriends . Masaya ang tugtugan, so up to now , tinatangkilik pa rin ng mga senior, and surprisingly pati ng mga bata . Minsan napupunta ako sa eskwelahan, part of their program is VST & Company pero mga bata!," he commented.

Gino Padilla expressed joy that their songs remain relevant in the digital era. "It's an honor for me to hear other people sing our own songs. They would often approach me, telling me the number of my song in the karaoke. It makes me happy. Kaya lang syempre nauso ang smartphone, kakantahin nila live, kaharap ka. So mas nakakatuwa yun. Ibig sabihin talagang they love the music."

"Awit Ng Panahon: Noon at Ngayon" is presented by Avolution Inc., Pro Entertainment Productions and Mallillin's Music Production. The concert is for the benefit of Anawim Lay Missions, Home for the Abandoned Elderly.
