DOT-Cordillera Regional Director Jovi Ganongan said  Mangan Taku is line with the celebration of “Buwan ng Kalutong Pilipino” or the Filipino Food Month every April.

"For our tourists, they don't have to go to the different provinces of the Cordillera just to taste the native food here, but they are all here, so food and native wine can be tasted here at our event," said Ganongan.

Rice wine and “watwat” or a slice of boiled pork was the featured food in last edition.

The festival was institutionalized by City Ordinance No. 81 in 2019 and in line with Proclamation No. 469 issued in 2018 declaring the month of April as Filipino Food Month to promote the appreciation, preservation, and promotion of Philippine culinary traditions and treasures, ensuring the transfer of knowledge to future generations and support various industries, farmers, and agricultural communities.
