Caloocan LGU receives P1 million donation from CCFCCC for pertussis vax

The local government of Caloocan City on Friday, April 19 received a 1 million grant from the Caloocan Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce (CCFCCC) to strengthen the vaccine initiative against pertussis also known as “whooping cough”.

Caloocan City Mayor Dale “Along” Malapitan expressed his gratitude to the CCFCCC for supporting the city’s programs for the Caloocan citizens. 

"Maraming-maraming salamat po sa CCFCCC para sa muli na namang pagtulong sa pamahalaang lungsod na makapagbigay ng maayos at kapaki-pakinabang na serbisyo sa ating mga kababayan," Mayor Malapitan said.

"Hindi lang po sa aspeto ng negosyo at ekonomiya ang kanilang naiaambag sa pag-unlad ng ating lungsod, bagkus ay nakatuon din sila sa kalusugan at kapakanan ng mga Batang Kankaloo, lalo na ngayon at nagbabadya ang pagkalat ng isa na namang nakakahawang sakit (They are not only contributing to the development of our city in terms of business and economy, but they are also committed to the health and welfare of Batang Kankaloo, especially now that another infectious disease is looming)," he added.

Malapitan hoped for the CCFCCC to continue its partnership with the city government. 

"Muli po, nagpapasalamat ako sa CCFCCC at sana ay hindi po kayo magsawa na tulungan kami sa pamahalaang lungsod na pagandahin pa ang buhay at kinabukasan ng ating mga mamamayan (Once again, I thank the CCFCCC and I hope you will not get tired of helping us in the city government to improve the lives and future of our citizens)," the City Mayor stated.

He also reminded the residents to take precautions against pertussis. 

"Sa atin naman pong mga kababayan, kahit na mayroon tayong programa ng bakuna laban sa pertussis ay huwag kalimutan na maging responsable sa pangangalaga ng kalusugan ninyo at ng inyong pamilya. Palakasin po natin ang ating resistensya at sundin ang mga panuntunan ng mga kinauukulan laban sa sakit na ito (As for our residents, even though we have a pertussis vaccine program, don't forget to be responsible for the health care of you and your family. Let's strengthen our resistance and follow the rules of those in charge against this disease),” Malapitan said.

The city government started its vaccination against pertussis on April 1. 

The children who are vulnerable to pertussis were vaccinated as well as individuals with weak immune systems.
