BACOLOD CITY – The Technological University of the Philippines (TUP)-Visayas announced that an alumnus who topped the April 2024 Electronics Engineering Licensure Examination (ECELE) will receive a cash incentive of P200,000.

Niele Shem Bañas of La Carlota City, Negros Occidental ranked first in the board examination with a rating of 91.80 percent. He graduated magna cum laude at the TUP-V in Talisay City.
In a Facebook post, Mayor Neil Lizares of Talisay City and Mayor Rex Jalando-on of La Carlota City lauded Bañas for his achievement.
The city government of La Carlota said that Bañas will also receive rewards and incentives.
The Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) said 1,330 out of 3,130 passed the ECELE. Fifty-four out of 76 examinees from TUP-V hurdled the ECELE for a 71.05 percent overall passing rate that surpassed the 42.49 percent national average in the examination.
The university was also the No. 1 performing school in the 2024 Electronics Technician (ECT) Licensure Examination with 67 out of 72 examinees hurdling the exam for a 93.06 percent passing rate.
A total of 1,819 out of 2,538 examinees passed the ECTLE given by the Board of Electronics Engineering.
TUP-V Campus Director Dr. Eric Malo-oy attributed the university’s success in the board examinations not only to its curriculum development programs, laboratory, and equipment augmentation but also to the commitment of each faculty and staff to delivering quality education.
“Truly, TUP-Visayas is the home of topnotchers in engineering and engineering technology education in the country,” he added.
The licensure examination was held in NCR, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Pampanga, Rosales, and Tuguegarao from April 11 to 12. Results of the board exam was released on April 17.
