TACLOBAN CITY – The province of Samar launched three new tourism circuits featuring cultural heritage and scenic sites on April 16.
These are the Secret Kitchens of Samar Gastronomy Tour, Tandaya Trail 1, and the Mabaysay Cultural River Cruise in Barangay Binongtu-an in Basey.
The Secret Kitchens of Samar Gastronomy Tour offers cooking demos, meeting kitchen heroes, and savoring flavors of authentic Samar cuisine passed down through generations.
The Tandaya Trail 1 features the wonders of the municipalities of Santa Rita, Marabut, and Basey.
The trail gives tourists the opportunity to explore the Sohoton Caves and Natural Bridge, the centuries-old tradition of mat weaving in Basey, and the farm-to-table concept restaurant overlooking farm landscapes and rock formations in Marabut.
It also includes a dining experience of seafood dishes at San Juan by the Bay against the backdrop of the San Juanico Bridge in Santa Rita.
The Mabaysay Cultural River Cruise in Basey is a cruise on the Cadac-an River, also known as the Golden River.

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said that Spark Samar Adventure is a tourism gem that highlights the enormous potential in providing authentic, immersive, meaningful, purposeful, and sustainable Philippine experiences for local and international tourists.
“The work you have done here in Samar, culminating in these launches, born out of years of planning, coordination, and sacrifice, signifies Samar’s standing as a tourism gem in the Philippines that promises every guest an experience, an immersion of a lifetime that leaves one feeling nourished, feeling loved, and wanting more,” she said.
Frasco lauded Gov. Sharee Ann Tan for making tourism a priority.
She said that tourism opens up the hearts and minds of the community to the power that tourism can have to transform lives and communities.
Frasco also stressed that with the province’s initiative, Samar is considered a viable tourism destination.
“I am certain that I will leave Samar with nothing less than nostalgic memories of feeling loved, feeling at home, and wanting to come back.”
