The brewing rift between Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos may lead to the former’s removal from her cabinet post, ex-vice presidential spokesman Barry Gutierrez said.

In a recent post on X, the former official remarked that it may not be too long before Duterte is removed from her post.
“Actually bilib ka din sa fez (face) ni Sara na sa kabila ng lahat na ito di pa rin talaga bumibitaw sa Gabinete (Actually, I am at awe at Sara because despite all, she hasn’t resigned from the Cabinet yet),” Gutierrez wrote.
“Pero kung ganito na ang tono, baka di na malayo na siya ang alisin (But if this is the situation now, it may not be too long before she is removed),” he added.
Gutierrez, the former spokesperson of former vice president Leni Robredo, reacted to the interview of Marcos with broadcaster Anthony Taberna on his vlog “Tune In Kay Tunying.”
“Labasan na ng pangil (The fangs are showing),” he said.
In Taberna’s interview, the First Lady opened up about her strained relationship with the Vice President after she saw her laughing at former president Rodrigo Duterte’s drug allegations against her husband.
Marcos claimed that Duterte was seen laughing after the former chief executive called President Marcos “bangag” during a rally in their hometown of Davao City.
The First Lady said Duterte is “bad shot” to her and that she has purposely ignored her since then.
She also claimed that even Robredo, despite being critical of the former president, didn’t do anything like what Duterte did to her husband.
Robredo, the elder Duterte’s former housing czar, resigned from her post five months after she was assigned to it because of her criticisms of the bloody drug war.
She was also assigned as a drug czar but was sacked just weeks after, citing the former president’s lack of trust.
