Manila LGU celebrates LGBTQIA+ through Manila Summer Pride

The Manila local government held the first ever "Manila Summer Pride" at the Kartila ng Katipunan, Ermita, Manila on Saturday, April 20.
"Ipagmalaki natin ng buong puso ang ating sarili. Be bold, ano man ang sabihin ng iba. Wag kayong matakot ipakita ang totoong ikaw (Let's be proud of ourselves with all our hearts. Be bold, no matter what others say. Don't be afraid to show the real you,) Manila Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul Servo" Nieto said during his short speech.
National President of LGBT Pilipinas Dindi Tan said the event was themed "Embracing the LGBTQIA+ Community, Let's Stand with Pride: Be Bold, Be You! Manila Summer Pride 2024, Go bongga!" to kick off series of activities prepared for the community of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, or asexual (LGBTQIA+).
A pride parade was also held before the program started, where attendees wore their rainbow-colored costumes while they waived their rainbow flags and banners.
The city government noted that the event was in coordination with the the Department of Tourism, Culture and Arts of Manila and Bekshies ng Maynila.
At least ten performers entertained the audience which include, Amazing Peanut, Charles & Yano, DJ JD Sy, DJ Jimmy Nocon, Empy Radora, Goddess Athena, House of Nak, Martha Amethyst, Matilduh, and Tiny Deluxe.
