The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said three areas in the country had felt a “dangerous” heat index of 45°C on Saturday, April 20.
PAGASA said the heat index of 45°C was recorded in Aparri, Cagayan; Guiuan, Eastern Samar; and Roxas City, Capiz.
PAGASA has also recorded a heat index of 44°C in Aborlan, Palawan followed by a heat index of 43°C in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Sangley Point, Cavite; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; and Virac, Catanduanes.
Meanwhile, a heat index of 42°C was experienced in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Baler, Aurora; Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) station in Pili, Camarines Sur; Dumangas, Iloilo; Catarman, Northern Samar; Davao City, Davao del Sur, and Cotabato City, Maguindanao.
PAGASA said heat stroke is probable due to prolonged heat exposure in areas with heat indices ranging from 42-51°C.
