CEBU CITY – A series of anti-criminality operations in Central Visayas during the Holy Week led to the confiscation of close to P40-million worth of illegal drugs.

The Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) reported that from March 24 to 31, 5,789.76 grams of shabu with a standard drug price of P39,370,368 were confiscated.
The PRO-7 added that 240 drug personalities were arrested in various police operations.
The eight-day police operation also resulted in the arrest of 190 wanted individuals with 21 of them considered as most wanted persons.
In the campaign against loose firearms, 203 unlicensed guns were seized and 39 persons were arrested.
The PRO-7 added that 827 persons were arrested for illegal gambling, most of them during illegal cockfights or “tupada” which are rampant during Holy Week.
Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, chief of PRO-7, attributed the successful operation to “the strong, strategic and consistent partnership with other law enforcement agencies and the community.”
“Our aim is crystal clear: Make Central Visayas a haven for peace and security,” said Aberin.
