PAGASA records highest 'dangerous' heat index in Eastern Samar on April 2

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, April 2, said the highest recorded heat index was felt in Guiuan, Easter Samar at 46°C.

PAGASA said the heat index was considered “dangerous,” which means that heat stroke is possible due to continued activity. 
 

Meanwhile, a heat index of 42°C was felt in Catarman, Northern Samar, and Cotabato City, Maguindanao. 

The weather bureau noted that heat indices from 42°C to 51°C may cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion, which is why, limiting the time spent outside and drinking plenty of water are advised. 

Based on PAGASA’s daily heat index report, Metro Manila consistently remained under a heat index ranging from 33-41°C, which means that “extreme caution” is needed.
