"With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to our dear friend, Hubert, who stood beside us during some of our most challenging times," Marcos said in a Facebook post on Tuesday, April 2.

The Chief Executive added the late SEC commissioner left behind a "legacy of honor and privilege for all who had the opportunity to know him."

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) shared in a Facebook post on Monday, April 1, photos of Marcos’ and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos’ visit, where they also attended a mass for the former SEC official.

“Kasama si First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, inalala ni PBBM ang mabuting paglilingkod ni Atty. Guevara, at ipinaabot ang kanyang taos-pusong pakikiramay sa pamilya at kaanak ng opisyal (Together with First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, PBBM remembered Atty. Guevara’s service, and extended his heartfelt condolences to the family and relatives of the official),” the post read.

In one of the photos shared by the PCO, the President was seen hugging a family member and sitting in the front pew during Mass.

He shared the same photo in his Facebook story.

The Office of the President (OP) earlier announced that Guevara died early March 29, and said that he would remembered for his “spirit, dedication, and exemplary service to the Filipino people.”

Born on July 6, 1967, the former SEC official was the Marcos administration’s Senior Deputy Executive Secretary before the President moved him to the SEC as one of its commissioners in February 2024.

He was also a partner at ACALaw, and served as the director of its Compliance and Enforcement Department in 2004.
