Malabon School Division issues guidelines for class suspension due to hot weather
The Malabon School Division Office (SDO) released on Tuesday, April 2, the guidelines for the implementation of cancellation of classes during hot weather.
SDO issued the guidelines in light of the surge in temperature and the heightened heat index projected by Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Association (PAGASA) this summer season.
If the heat index reaches 42 degrees Celsius or higher, in-person classes will be automatically suspended, and teachers are not required to report to school and will shift to Alternative Delivery Mode of Instructions/ modular learning.
Blended learning (mix of face-to-face and online classes) will also be initiated once the heat index reaches 41 degrees Celsius. The schools will ensure that students are grouped based on their specific learning levels.
Regular in-person classes will proceed as scheduled once the heat index level recorded is at 40 degrees Celsius and below.
The city government also encouraged the residents to drink more water, refrain from going outside their homes when the heat temperature increases, as well as from drinking softdrinks or alcoholic beverage.
“Ang Malabon City government, sa pamumuno ni Mayor Jeannie Sandoval ay nakahanda upang siguraduhing nasa maayos na kalagayan ang ating mga kakababayan oras man ng bagyo o matinding init. Sisiguraduhin natin na lahat ng mga kababayan ay matutulungan kung kinakailangan. Ating ipinapatupad ang mga inisyatibong ito upang maiwas ang mga kabataan at mga guro sa anumang kapahamakang dulot ng matinding init (The Malabon City government, under the leadership of Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, is ready to make sure that our citizens are in good condition, whether it's during a typhoon or extreme heat. We will ensure that all citizens will be assisted if needed. We are implementing these initiatives to prevent the youth and teachers from any harm caused by the extreme heat),” city administrator Dr. Alexander Rosete said.
