'Limited' technical, financial capacity most common compliance problem for entrepreneurs — FDA
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday, April 2, addressed the challenges among many small businesses including limited technical and financial capacity and lack of knowledge about the FDA requirements.

To empower local entrepreneurs, FDA Director General Samuel Zacate met with Tuguegarao City Mayor Maila Ting-Que to discuss the impending signing of a Memorandum of Agreement for the Bigyan-Halaga, Bangon Micro, Medium, and Small Enterprises (BBMSME) Program.
“The FDA recognizes the specific needs of small and medium businesses. It supports entrepreneurs, encourages the establishment of MSMEs, and ensures their continued viability and growth,” said Zacate.
“At the same time, we sustain the FDA’s mission, quality policy, and objectives,” he added.

The agency noted that the BBM MSME program is geared towards equipping local businesses with the necessary knowledge and resources to meet FDA regulations, thereby fostering compliance with technical and safety standards.
Small-scale enterprises often grapple with limited technical know-how and financial constraints, hindering their adherence to FDA requirements, he said.
Zacate stressed the FDA's commitment to supporting small and medium businesses, recognizing their unique challenges and importance in driving economic growth.
He also said that the agency's objectives encompass ensuring regulatory oversight, bolstering industry and consumer confidence, and promoting fair trade practices.
On the other hand, during his visit to Tuguegarao, Zacate also participated in the launch of the LAB for ALL Caravan alongside First Lady Marie Louise Araneta Marcos at the Cagayan Coliseum.
This initiative provided essential medical services to nearly 4,800 individuals, including free consultations, prescription glasses, dental procedures, and laboratory tests.
Expressing gratitude to healthcare professionals and government agencies involved in the program, Zacate underscored the significance of collaborative efforts in enhancing public health and economic prosperity.
