Float parade and concert highlight Antipolo City’s 26th cityhood anniversary


Residents and visitors to the Pilgrimage Capital of the Country will get the chance to celebrate its 26th cityhood anniversary from April 4 to 6.

A float parade and cosplay competition featuring colorfully decorated floats inspired by the anime, manga or cosplay characters, will happen on April 6 from Sumulong Park fronting the city hall and the Antipolo Cathedral  all the way to the Ynares Center.  

The office of Mayor Casimiro ‘Junjun’ Ynares III said the participants to the Saturday event will have the chance to bring home cash prices ranging from P3,000 to P5,000  with more than 30 winners getting the opportunity to be chosen in the cosplay party competition to be held at 1 p.m. at the Antipolo City Hall Annex Building on April 6, prior to the float parade

On Saturday night, right after the cosplay event, there will be a free concert at the Ynares Center featuring artists such as Janine Berdin, Lo Ki, Rob Deniel, Sud, and ALLMO$T.

Ynares also announced that April 4, Thursday, has been declared by Malacanang Palace as a special non-working day in the entire city under Proclamation No. 497 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, to give the residents the full opportunity to celebrate the 26th cityhood anniversary of Antipolo.

Preparations for the coming Maytime Festival are also underway.

Antipolo City on Holy Thursday and Good Friday, hosted around 7.4 million pilgrims from Metro Manila and nearby localities during the Alay Lakad 2024 activity to pay homage to the city's patroness, the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage or the Nuestra Senora dela Paz Y  Buenviaje.

The city government said  visitors are also welcome to visit the International Shrine of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage located beside the city hall.
