Despite topping the latest Pulse Asia survey on Filipinos' preferred senatorial candidates for next year's midterm polls, Congressman Erwin Tulfo says his "primary focus" remains with his party-list, ACT-CIS.

"I am deeply grateful for the overwhelming support and trust expressed by the people in the recent Pulse Asia survey. It's truly humbling to witness such a high level of confidence in my capacity to serve," Tulfo said in a statement Wednesday Del, April 3.

"I want to emphasize that while I deeply appreciate the sentiments of the public, my primary focus remains on fulfilling my duties as the representative of the ACT-CIS Party-list," said the popular broadcaster-turned-lawmaker.

Tulfo topped the Pulse Asia survey on preferred senatorial candidates with a 57.1 percent rating, even beating the likes of former president Rodrigo Duterte.

The midterm polls will take place in May 2025. However, the Senate aspirants must decide on their political plans by October this year, during the filing of the certificates of candidacy (COCs).

Obviously, there’s no such thing as party-list representation in the Senate.

"My commitment to advocating for the interests and well-being of the Filipino people remains unwavering through my work in the House of Representatives. I assure you that I will continue to dedicate myself tirelessly to addressing the critical issues facing our nation and upholding the principles of good governance and public service," Tulfo said.

"Once again, I extend my sincere gratitude to all those who have supported me, and I pledge to continue working diligently to earn and maintain your trust. Thank you," added the House deputy majority leader.

ACT-CIS Party-list has three nominees in the House of Representatives in the current 19th Congress. It was the top vote-getter during the party-list race of the May 2022 elections.

Tulfo is a former Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) secretary.
