To mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and the Philippines, the Royal Thai Embassy, in partnership with the City Government of Makati, San Lorenzo Barangay, Tourism Authority of Thailand, and Ayala Land, hosted and organized the Thailand-Philippines Street Food Festival held last April 6 to 7, 2024, along Rada Thailand Street in Makati.
Thailand Ambassador H.E. Tull Traisorat, together with Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, led the opening of the festival, alongside DENR Sec. Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga, DOT Sec. Maria Christina Frasco, DOLE Sec. Bienvenido Laguesma, Ayala Land's Sharon Vital and Getty Granada, and Most Rev. Charles Brown III from the Embassy of the Holy See. The festival was also graced by the presence of Cong. Luis Campos, members of the diplomatic corps, and Makati City councilors and department heads.
The festival highlighted a blend of flavors from diverse Thai and Filipino food vendors, alongside cultural performances. The event not only celebrated shared culinary heritage but also highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations.
It was the perfect time to explore and taste the authentic local street food from Thailand and the Philippines. The festival was a celebration of the rich tapestry of cultures and indulgence in a symphony of tastes and aromas that transported the crowd from the bustling streets of Bangkok to the familiar markets of Manila.
