Student drowns on Pangasinan river

MANGALDAN, Pangasinan – A 17-year-old student drowned while swimming on a river here.

Police identified the victim as Allen Matthew Morales.

Investigation said Morales and his friends went swimming on the Angalacan River at about 12:50 p.m. on Thursday, April 18.

Morales asked his friend to record him swimming for his My Day on Facebook.

The victim suffered leg cramps while swimming and called for help.

His friends jumped into the river to assist Morales. However, Morales was lost his grip with his friends and drowned.

Rescuers retrieved Morales and was brought to a hospital where he was declared dead.
