Solo parents may avail of free rides on the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) and the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) on Saturday, April 20, in celebration of National Solo Parent's Day.
In separate posts on Facebook, the operators of LRT-2 and MRT-3 said the free ride service will start at 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. during the train's peak hours.
Both rail lines also said that eligible passengers would only need to present their valid Solo Parent's identification card to benefit from the free ride.
"Tayo po sa LRTA, batid natin 'yung bigat ng responsibilidad ng mga solo parent. Kaya naman sa pagdiriwang na ito, sana maiparamdam ng LRTA ang aming paghanga at pasasalamat sa inyo sa pamamagitan po ng handog naming libreng sakay (At LRTA, we understand the immense responsibility that a single parents carries. Therefore, on this occasion, we aim to convey our deep appreciation and gratitude by extending our offer of free rides)," said LRTA Administrator lawyer Hernando Cabrera.
"Saludo po ang MRT-3 sa lahat ng solo parents na ubos-lakas na nagsasakripisyo upang maitaguyod ang kanilang mga anak. Hangad po namin na sa aming libreng sakay ay mapasaya namin sila sa kanilang espesyal na araw. Sana po ay maipadama namin sa lahat ng solo parents ang aming paghanga at pagpapahalaga sa kanilang mga sakripisyo (The MRT-3 extends its heartfelt appreciation to all the solo parents who selflessly dedicate themselves to providing for their children. Through our free rides, we aim to bring joy to their special day. Let us express our utmost admiration and gratitude for the sacrifices made by solo parents)," Transportation Assistant Secretary for Railways at MRT-3 Officer-in-Charge Jorjette B. Aquino said in a statement.
