P2.7-M shabu seized from construction worker

TACLOBAN CITY – A construction worker was arrested and suspected shabu valued at P2.7 million was seized in a buy-bust operation in Ormoc City on Thursday, April 18.

Police identified the suspect as Benigno Jovan Cañada, 39, considered a high-value individual on the regional level in the illegal drugs trade.

The Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group recovered a small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing shabu, seven large plastic sachets containing shabu, three medium heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing shabu, and non-drug pieces of evidence.

The drug evidence was turned over to the PNP Forensic Group in Camp Downes, Ormoc City.

Cañada is detained at the Ormoc City Police Station 1.
