President Marcos' inclusion in TIME Magazine’s list of 100 Most Influential People of 2024 is proof that the international community is beginning to "recognize the Philippines".
House Senior Deputy Speaker Pampanga 3rd district Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. had this to say Friday, April 19 as more administration solons welcomed the gesture of the renowned magazine.
“It’s a recognition of our country and the kind of leadership and governance our good President is showing,” Gonzales said.
He said TIME Magazine and many nations around the world appreciate the efforts of President Marcos to improve the country's economy situation, as well as to pursue a new approach on foreign relations.
“Let us not waste this groundswell of goodwill to help our leaders improve our country and the lives of our people. Let us pray that they make the right decisions for our nation and the majority of us Filipinos,” Gonzales said.
He called on his countrymen to continue supporting and praying for President Marcos.

“In particular, let us support his advocacy to remove restrictions in the Constitution on the entry of foreign investments, which he believes will accelerate our economic development, a belief we, his allies in Congress, share,” he said.
In naming President Marcos to its prestigious list, TIME cited his stance against China’s aggression in the South China Sea, including the West Philippine Sea (WPS); and his administration’s post-Covid 19 recovery programs that allowed the country to sustain its economic growth.
