NGCP, MORE Power schedule weekend power interruptions

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) have scheduled power interruptions in some areas in Iloilo from April 20 to 21.

MORE Power stated that there will be a cleaning of the 69 kilovolt (kV) sub-transmission line 5 and post-insulator replacements.

Network Development and Operations Vice President Bernard Bailey Del Castillo explained that the reason behind the maintenance work is due to the built-up dirt and salt upon the insulators and facilities, which could cause sparks and unexpected power outages.

“Dirty insulators on our power lines are a big problem because when it lightly rains, it can cause sparks and outages. We need heavy rain to wash away the dirt,” Del Castillo elaborated.

April 20, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
