A controversial food blogger was arrested by members of the Pasay City Police Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) for a case of slight physical injuries last Tuesday, April 16.
Pasay City police chief Col. Mario Mayames said the suspect, identified as Deo Balbuena or alias “Diwata,” 42, of Diokno Boulevard, Barangay 76, Pasay City, was arrested at around 10:00 a.m. by virtue of a warrant issued by Judge Allan Ariola, of Pasay City Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 48, for a case of slight physical injuries on October 2, 2018 with a recommended bail of P3,000.
He said the complaint against Diwata was filed by one alias Rogelio who claimed that Balbuena hit him on the head with a bamboo stick while he was resting under Diokno Bridge on May 5, 2018.
Balbuena, who owns the D’Wata Pares Overload, became a controversial food blogger for his “beef pares” and big servings of fried chicken which have been attracting a long line of customers.
He became more controversial for creating a blog content where he reported to Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano last April 3 that the team of City Health Office (CHO) visited his rented place after receiving complaints that he is operating without business and sanitary permit, and fire clearance.
The blogger created another content announcing to his customers that his eatery will not be shut down. Instead, he said, Mayor Rubiano gave him two months to comply with the show cause order issued to him.
