The heat is still on: 17 areas may have 'dangerous' heat index on April 17
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said 17 areas in the country may experience a “dangerous” heat index on Wednesday, April 17.

PAGASA said Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; and Aborlan, Palawan may have a heat index of 44 degrees Celsius (°C).
A heat index of 43°C may be experienced in Bacnotan, La Union; Sangley Point, Cavite; Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) station in Pili, Camarines Sur; Iloilo City, Iloilo; Dumangas, Iloilo; and Catarman, Northern Samar.
Meanwhile, a heat index of 42°C may be felt in Aparri, Cagayan; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Isabela State University (ISU) station in Ichague, Isabela; Cuba Pt., Subic, Olongapo; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Virac, Catanduanes; and Tacloban, Leyte.
PAGASA said continued exposure to heat indices ranging from 42 to 51°C may lead to heat stroke.
Drinking plenty of water, avoiding soda, coffee, and tea, as well as bringing hat or umbrella to protect oneself from direct heat are necessary, said PAGASA.
Based on the PAGASA’s daily heat index report, a heat index of 48°C in Roxas City, Capiz on March 28 was the highest recorded in the country since 2024 began.
