The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said 17 areas experienced a “dangerous” heat index on Wednesday, April 17.

PAGASA said a heat index of 44°C was felt in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Aborlan, Palawan; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; and Catarman, Northern Samar.
It also recorded a heat index of 43°C in Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas; Dumangas, Iloilo; and Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
Meanwhile, Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) station in Batac, Ilocos Norte; Bacnotan, La Union; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Isabela State University (ISU) station in Isabela, Cagayan; Sangley Point, Cavite; Coron, Palawan; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Virac, Catanduanes; Roxas City, Capiz; and Iloilo City, Iloilo had experienced a heat index of 42°C.
PAGASA said heat indices ranging from 42 to 51°C, which is under the “danger” category, indicates the possibility of heat stroke after prolonged exposure.
