P5.1 million worth of shabu seized in Tacloban City


TACLOBAN CITY - Over P5.1 million worth of suspected shabu was recovered in a buy-bust operation that was conducted on Monday, April 15, in Barangay 89, San Jose, here.

 

A certain Rosel, 23, single, unemployed, and a resident of Barangay 60 here was arrested in the anti-narcotics operation conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU).

 

CDEU recovered from the suspect a transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu that was procured by an operative for P50,000. 

 

The operatives also seized seven more plastic sachets containing shabu with an estimated weight of 750 grams, and an estimated street value of P5.1 million. 

 

The suspect refused to issue a statement during the operation.

 

Charges of Violations of Sections 5 (selling illegal drugs) and 11 (possession of Illegal Drugs of Art. II of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspect.

 

He is temporarily detained at the custodial facility of the City Drug Enforcement Unit. 

 

Meanwhile, the confiscated drug evidence was turned over to the Regional Field Unit 8 for chemical analysis.
