Expect rain showers in some Mindanao areas; lower rain chance elsewhere — PAGASA
Expect scattered rain showers in some parts of Mindanao, while the chances of rain in the rest of the country remain low, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, April 16.
PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres said the trough or extension of a low pressure area (LPA) outside the country’s area of responsibility may bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Davao Region, South Cotabato, and Sarangani.
She said the LPA has a slim chance of becoming a tropical cyclone, but moderate to heavy rains may cause flash floods or landslides in these areas.
Meanwhile, the ridge of high pressure area (HPA) may bring hot and humid weather to the rest of the country.
Torres said the HPA is the opposite of the LPA because it reduces the likelihood of rains in the affected areas.
