Borongan City to host Miss Earth's Beachwear competition


TACLOBAN CITY - The city of Borongan, capital of Eastern Samar province, is gearing up to host the 29 Miss Philippines Earth 2024 hopefuls for their beachwear competition on April 25.

The event will take place at Baybay Beach, the first Miss Earth event that will be open to the public, reflecting a joint effort by the legislative and executive branches to foster inclusivity and support local businesses.

Candidates from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, along with Filipino representatives from the USA and Italy, will immerse themselves in the natural wonders of the City of Golden Sunrise. 
 

Their itinerary includes a diverse array of activities, including surfing, diving, island hopping, and beach sports, alongside visits to remote barangays where local communities actively protect the environment.

City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda shared that they are taking their guests to remote barangays to provide them with a unique insight into the city. 

"It's the first time we're bringing this national event closer to our people in these areas, underscoring the importance of environmental conservation and heritage preservation," he noted.

He added that they want their communities in the barangays to also experience the event, ensuring they are top of mind when there are opportunities for such experiences.

He also expressed gratitude to the provincial government of Eastern Samar for their partnership in hosting the event, with several businesses contributing to sponsor activities for the candidates, enhancing community involvement, and elevating the city's profile nationally and internationally.
 

"This event not only promotes environmental advocacy but also showcases the beauty and hospitality of our community. We're eager for everyone involved to have a memorable and impactful experience."

This Miss Earth Philippines candidates will stay in Borongan City from April 22 to April 26.
