Pasig City kicks off vax campaign vs preventable diseases

The Pasig City local government launched its citywide supplemental immunization campaign to prevent the surge in vaccine-preventable diseases.

Dubbed as “Pasig Bakuna, Bata ang Bida!,” the vaccination aims to inoculate children from six weeks to 23 months old with their routine and catch-up doses, and children 24 to 59 months old with their supplemental dose against vaccine-preventable diseases such as polio, measles, and rubella.

A total of 12 children from Barangay Sumilang and Barangay Bagong Katipunan were vaccinated during the kick-off event. The local government also launched the program in 28 other barangays in the city.

"Kaya naman hinihikayat ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Pasig, sa pangunguna ng City Health Department (CHD), ang mga magulang at guardians na pabakunahan na ang kanilang mga chikiting. Ito ay libre at gagawin sa pampublikong health centers, paaralan, at sa iba pang lugar na itatalaga ng CHD. Magkakaroon din ng house-to-house vaccination kaugnay nito (The city government of Pasig, through its City Health Department, is encouraging all parents and guardians to vaccinate their children. The vaccination is free and will be conducted in public health centers, schools, and other places to be designated by the CHD. It will also hold house-to-house vaccinations for Pasigueños)," the LGU explained.

Pasig City has recorded a 116 percent supplemental immunization activity service coverage in 2023 which it hopes to surpass this year.
