Andres Muhlach

Andres Muhlach, a name synonymous with showbiz royalty, is excited as he prepares to debut alongside his family in the much-anticipated TV5 sitcom Da Pers Family, set to air in May.

In his first solo press conference at Viva Cafe in Araneta City on April 15, Andres said he eagerly awaits the series' first taping day. In a beautiful twist of life imitating art, Andres’ real-life parents, Aga and Charlene, will portray his on-screen parents, and his sister, Atasha, will join the cast as his sibling, creating a genuinely familial atmosphere on set.

"I eagerly anticipate the first day of taping because I will be with my family. We worked together in the past doing endorsements. But now that we're taping, it will be a good experience. I'll spend time with my family and best friends," Andres said.

The 6'2 son of Aga Muhlach and former beauty queen Charlene Gonzalez has signed up as an official talent of Viva Artists Agency under Vic Del Rosario.

"To Viva, I'm grateful for the opportunity you have given me. My parents are supportive. They give us a few tips or pointers about work, but at the end of the day, my family is there to support us," Andres said.

As he entered showbiz, Andres, on his father's advice, said, "Enjoy the process, have fun, be nice to everyone, and be level-headed. Humility is the best ability."

Andres, 21, mentioned that he is improving his ability to speak Tagalog.

"Kaya ko naman mag Tagalog pero hindi pa ako sanay pero I'm learning. Being with my friends here and abroad, I could learn the language quickly," he said.

Before showbiz, Andres went to Spain to study business and communications at St. Louis University in Madrid, Spain. Now that he entered the entertainment industry, the newbie actor said he would finish school in Manila for one more year.

Andres was the last member of his family to enter the entertainment industry. His younger sister, Atasha, joined in July 2023.

"I have been interested in showbiz my whole life. It's just that Atasha was very vocal about it, and I was the more quiet type. I kept it to myself. Eventually, I talked to my parents about it and told them this was what I wanted," he said.

Andres mentioned that during his childhood, he never fully comprehended the world of show business. From a young age, he saw his parents return from work, not fully comprehending the impact they had on others' lives. But as he matured, he gained a deeper understanding of the industry and the profound influence it can wield.

"There was no point in second-guessing because if I wanted to achieve something, I would do it wholeheartedly. I work hard at it to the best of my abilities, so there is no second-guessing for me," he added.

Aside from acting, Andres loves dancing. "I enjoy dancing. Ever since I was a boy, I have loved to dance. I'm into hip-hop, but with the right music, I love to do slow dance."

Andres also loves basketball and tries to find a way to play it. He will soon take vocal lessons to hone his speaking voice and possibly sing.

Girls, girls, girls

Andres revealed that he never had a girlfriend since birth.

"I've never had a girlfriend. I've tried to date, but going into the relationship level, I never reached it. Girls will always be there, but I want to focus on my career for now," he said.

Andres shared the qualities of his ideal girl, although he refused to reveal his showbiz crushes for now.

"Someone I can enjoy spending time with, someone who can make me laugh, and someone who is God-fearing. She puts God in her life. That's important to me because these are fundamental things for a good person," he added.

He's preparing to go shirtless for his role in showbiz by working on his fitness.

"I'm working on being shirtless. I want to be ready for any scene or sequence in which I must be shirtless."

Andres, however, said that he's not ready to go shirtless in the next Bench fashion show. "I don't know. Not yet. I am willing to go shirtless for the right role and project."

The rising star said he's flattered to be called the new "crush ng bayan."

"It's very flattering. I never thought of it that way. It's only recently that I felt the love for myself. The crush ng bayan thing. I appreciate it. I never felt I was a pogi. Seriously. I'm always focused on my personality."

When asked about the showbiz personality he admires, Andres said: "John Lloyd Cruz. His acting in Dubai was touching, and his dynamics with my dad were really good."
