- President Marcos said the Philippines is closely monitoring the result of the upcoming US elections in November.
President Marcos believes that the United States will abide by its commitment to the Philippines despite the possibility of a change in its leadership in November.

Marcos said this after US President Joseph Biden assured him of the USA's "ironclad" commitment to the Philippines' defense amid tensions in the South China Sea.
In an interview with foreign media reporters in Manila, the President said while there might be changes in case Donald Trump reclaims the presidency, he trusts that the US will keep its word with the Philippines.
"I believe what we have agreed with the United States is beyond politics," he said on Monday, April 15.
"I think that, since they almost rise to treaty agreements, those treaty agreements must be honored. That, I think, puts us on ground," he added.
President Marcos reiterated that the Philippines is closely monitoring the result of the upcoming US elections in November.
"If President Biden is reelected, then we have a fairly solid ground to base our positions on because we have already spoken with him," he said.
"I will not deny that we look, certainly, we examine who’s going to be in charge. In case former president Trump is reelected, what will be the changes that will affect us— It’s hard to say, it’s all speculation for now," he added.
President Marcos recently met with President Biden at the White House for a bilateral meeting and a separate trilateral summit with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.
