‘Queen of Tears’ rises to 21% in nationwide rating; breaks own record anew 


The Korean drama “Queen of Tears” starring Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won continued to captivate viewers, breaking its own records in the ratings. 

According to Nielsen Korea, episode 12 on April 14 of “Queen of Tears” on Korean cable TV channel tvN received a nationwide rating of  20.732 percent in South Korea, its highest rating to date. It was watched by 5.22 million people.

This is the first time that “Queen of Tears” reached 20 percent in nationwide ratings. 

This is higher by 3.6 percentage points compared to the 16.767 percent  the drama got for episode 11 on April 13. 

In the metropolitan area (Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi), “Queen of Tears” episode 12 garnered a rating of 23.242 percent, its highest to date. It was watched by 2.74 million people. 

This is higher by 4.73 percentage points compared to episode 11’s 18.509 percent on April 13. 

“Queen of Tears” is No. 1 nationwide and in the metropolitan area among all shows that aired in South Korea on April 14. 

If “Queen of Tears” continues its upward trend in the ratings, it may surpass “Crash Landing on You,” in the ranking for the highest rated cable dramas in South Korea. 

“Crash Landing on You” achieved its highest nationwide rating at 21.683 percent in February 2020.
