PwC's BPO hub project to create 5,000 new jobs

Business solutions firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) is planning to implement a project in the Philippines that is expected to generate around 5,000 new jobs for Filipinos, announced the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

During the Philippine delegation's visit to Washington D.C. on April 12 for the United States-Japan-Philippines trilateral meeting, DTI Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual held talks with PwC Philippines Chairman and Senior Partner Roderick Danao, and PwC Managing Partner and Platform Leader Principal and Acceleration Centers Leader Hari Kumar.

The PwC officials disclosed their plans to establish a PwC Global Acceleration Center in the Philippines that will focus on catering to high-value business process outsourcing (BPO) services in consulting spaces. 

These include artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and cybersecurity services to firms.

PwC network member firm Isla Lipana & Co. said 1,000 to 2,000 more jobs can be expected, building up on the initial 5,000 estimate, to provide manpower support to the project.

In a three to four year timeframe, the center is projected to create more new jobs for Filipinos,  to support the already thriving BPO industry.

This translates to around P2 billion in additional annual revenues for the country, said the DTI.

“We are deeply grateful for PwC's decision to launch this new project in the Philippines and their continuing confidence in our country as a global BPO partner,” said Pascual. 
 
"The DTI recognizes the transformative potential of AI for the Philippine economy. Hence, we strongly advocate for building AI capabilities to meet the evolving needs of businesses, such as PwC's Global Acceleration Center," he added. 

PwC delivers business solutions to various clients worldwide, providing services such as auditing, accounting, human resource consulting, and strategy management to automotive, energy, government, banking, and consumer market industries among others.
