PRO-1 offers 'Libreng Sakay' in Ilocos during transport strike
SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The Police Regional Office-1 is offering “Libreng Sakay” or free rides to commuters during the transport strike from April 15 to 16 in the Ilocos region.

PRO-1 Director Police Brig. Gen. Lou Evangelista ordered his subordinate units to provide resources for Libreng Sakay.
Vehicles will be stationed in various places of convergence in the region to ferry commuters who might be affected by the strike.
“The overall security, safety, and transport convenience of our citizens is our priority. Rest assured that your PNP is always ready to extend a helping hand," said Evangelista.
The Libreng Sakay initiative was among the directives of Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil to regional directors for the transport strike.
Marbil ordered the maximum deployment of traffic personnel and road safety marshals to maintain peace and order and ensure the safety of commuters.
The Police Regional Office 4-A (Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, and Quezon area) is also offering Libreng Sakay.
PRO 4-A Director Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth T. Lucas ordered subordinate units to provide resources for Libreng Sakay in places of convergence in the region. (with a report from Danny Estacio)
