PCG warns public against fake recruitment ads on social media

Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) aspirants were advised to take extra precaution when engaging with advertisements on social media offering assistance so they could be part of the organization in exchange of personal details and money.
PCG spokesperson Rear Adm. Armando Balilo said they have monitored fake recruitment announcements from Facebook page “PRC Board and Exam Results”.
“Aside from issuing unauthorized and unconfirmed recruitment updates, their online activities also cause danger as they obtain the names and documents of aspiring PCG applicants through an online application site,” Balilo said.
The PCG reminded applicants to only get updates on authorized sources such as the Facebook page of the PCG at https://www.facebook.com/coastguardph and the Coast Guard Human Resource Management Command (CGHRMC) at https://www.facebook.com/CGHRMCOfficial.
“If there are Facebook pages posting updates on recruitment processes, don’t believe it immediately. Report these pages circulating fake recruitment announcements to stop them from victimizing online applicants,” Balilo said.
The announcement came after the PCG also arrested an alleged illegal recruiter in Paranaque City last April 5.
Balilo shared that the PCG received a report from an aspiring applicant regarding a certain Lowell Ace Dalnay, a resident of Paranaque City who was posing as a police intelligence officer and offering assistance on the Coast Guard nationwide recruitment application in exchange for P40,000.
The PCG coordinated with the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Southern Police District (PNP-CIDG SPD) for the conduct of an entrapment operation which led to the arrest of Dalnay.
Dalnay was brought to the PNP-CIDG SPD for booking and filing of appropriate charges while the boodle money was confiscated from him, according to the PCG.
The PCG encouraged the public to report illegal recruiters to the CGHRMC Grievance Desk at 0929-314-1684 for swift and appropriate measures.
