15 tricycle, e-trike drivers nabbed for flouting ban along Taft Avenue, Quezon Boulevard

At least 15 tricycle and e-tricycle drivers were flagged down after passing through Taft Avenue and Quezon Boulevard on the first day of the ban on tricycles, electric tricycles and bicycles, pushcarts, "kuligligs" and pedicabs on major roads in Metro Manila.
The Manila Traffic And Parking Bureau (MTPB) said they started seeing violators as early as 6 a.m. on Monday, April 15.
The apprehended drivers were asked to present driver's license, original copies of vehicle registration, and franchise papers.
According to MTPB Chief Dennis Viaje, most of the tricycle and colorum vehicle drivers did not have driver's licenses.
Their vehicles will be impounded while their operators will be directed to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and pay the appropriate fines.
Some pedicab and "kuliglig" drivers were also caught passing along Quezon Boulevard and Taft Avenue.
Passengers of the affected vehicles had to alight and transfer to other vehicles.
Violators who were able to present their driver's licenses were issued traffic violation tickets.
Manila's traffic enforcers reiterated that they will allow drivers to cross the major road to get to the other side.
However, the apprehended vehicles were caught taking in passengers along the major roads, they said.
Monitoring operations will continue, the MTPB said.
