Truck driver suffers heart attack on road, hits 2 vehicles in front of Manila hospital
A sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a tricycle were hit by a tractor truck in front of a hospital in Manila after its driver suffered from a heart attack while driving along Ermita, Manila, on Saturday, April 13.
The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the truck driver as Ramil De Gumbis, 45, who died from a heart attack, police confirmed.
Initial investigation disclosed that the truck was traveling along the eastbound lane of United Nation Avenue in Ermita at around 5:23 p.m.
Upon reaching the front of Manila Medical Center, the truck's right front portion hit the left side portion of the parked SUV.
Due to the strong impact, the SUV got pinned between the truck and the concrete planter of the hospital.
A stalled tricycle was also hit, as police said that the truck continuously moved after hitting the SUV.
The truck driver was rushed to the emergency room of Manila Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival.
The police have not yet disclosed if the drivers of the two other involved vehicles were injured.
