DepEd condemns ambush of public school teacher in Zamboanga del Sur

The Department of Education (DepEd) on Saturday, April 13, strongly condemned the reported ambush of a public school teacher in Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur this week.

“DepEd denounces this senseless act of violence against our teacher and implores concerned authorities to heighten efforts in ensuring the safety and security of our educators and our communities,” the agency said in a statement.

The incident, DepEd said, occurred on Thursday, April 11.

As the department extended its condolences to the bereaved family and colleagues of the victim, DepEd urged the police “to swiftly apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice.”
