Dagupan City's heat index may soar to 45°C on April 13

9 areas may experience 'dangerous' heat index values


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said a heat index of 45°C may be felt in Dagupan City, Pangasinan on Saturday, April 13.

PAGASA said other eight areas may have “dangerous” heat index values including Aparri, Cagayan at 44°C and Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Aborlan, Palawan; Masbate, Masbate; Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) station in Pili, Camarines Sur; and Catarman, Northern Samar at 42°C. 

It said heat indices ranging from 42-51°C are “dangerous” which pose the risk of heat stroke due to continued exposure while heat cramps and heat exhaustion are also possible. 

PAGASA also warned the public to exercise "extreme caution” as most parts of the country may have heat indices ranging from 33-41°C.
