Autopsy to be conducted to know cause of death of Korean singer Park Bo-ram

The Korean police announced that an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death of Korean singer Park Bo-ram. 

Park Bo-ram passed away suddenly on April 11. She was 30. 

“The autopsy to determine the cause of death of the late Park Bo-ram will be conducted on the morning of April 15,” an official of the Namyangju Southern Police Station in Gyeonggi Province said, Korean media reported.

The police added, “"The autopsy was decided because the cause of death of Park Bo-ram was unclear and the bereaved family requested it.”

The police requested South Korea’s National Forensic Service to conduct an autopsy as no unusual signs of trauma were found in relation to the death of Park Bo-ram. 

According to the police, Park Bo-ram was drinking with two female acquaintances in a house in Namyangu City. 

Park Bo-ram went to the bathroom alone but did not come out.  At 9:55 p.m. KST on April 11, an acquaintance found her passed out in the bathroom and reported it to the police. 

At 10 p.m., the police and firefighters arrived and found Park Bo-ram and transported her to a hospital. She was pronounced dead at 11:17 p.m. KST. 

According to the police, the alcohol that Park Bo-ram and two acquaintances drank together that day was about a bottle of soju, and no suspicion of extreme behavior or murder was found.

Another report stated that Park Bo-ram lost his father to cirrhosis in 2010. In 2017, her mother passed away due to an illness. 

Park Bo-ram gained prominence when she competed on the TV show “SuperStar K2” in 2010, and debuted as a singer in 2014. She released the song “I Hope” with Huh Gak in February. 

Park Bo-ram’s last post on Instagram was on March 12. 

Xanadu Entertainment, her agency, said, “All of our fellow artists and employees at Xanadu Entertainment are deeply mourning the deceased with great sadness. It is even more heartbreaking to deliver the sudden news to fans who support Park Bo-ram.”

“We earnestly ask that you refrain from making speculative reports so that the grieving family and colleagues can commemorate the deceased. Funeral procedures will be held after consultation with the bereaved family. Once again, we send our deepest condolences to the deceased on her final journey,” the agency said.
