The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said five phreatic eruption events occurred at Taal Volcano in the past 24 hours.
Phivolcs, in an advisory on Saturday, April 13, said the phreatic eruption events lasted for one to 13 minutes.
Phivolcs also noted that a “voluminous” plume emission occured at 2,400-meter tall drifting southwest and northwest.
On Friday, April 12, Phivolcs observed a phreatic, or steam-driven eruption at the Taal Volcano’s main crater that occurred between 5:11 a.m. and 5:24 a.m., which was triggered by the persistent gas emission.
From the eruption, a white steam-laden plume reaching 2,400 meters high and drifting southwest, was also produced.
Phivolcs had recorded a sulfur dioxide (SO2) emission of 9,677 tons per day as of April 11.
It also said 15 volcano-tectonic earthquakes and six volcanic tremors two to four minutes long were observed.
Taal Volcano remained under Alert Level 1, which means that it was still at a low level of unrest.
