Over 11,000 children receive vaccination against measles — Philippine Red Cross
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) said it had vaccinated over 11,000 children against measles in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) as part of an intensive vaccination campaign.

PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard Gordon issued a statement directing PRC volunteers and vaccinators to intensify vaccination efforts for children.
As of Friday, April 12, the PRC has vaccinated 11,124 children in BARMM.
According to PRC, children ages six months to 10 years old in the Bangsamoro region: Sulu, Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, Cotabato City, Lanao del Sur, and Lanao del Norte were vaccinated.

In addition to this, to reach more children living in geographically isolated communities, the PRC also mobilized 20 trained vaccinators and 89 support volunteers, Emergency Response Vehicles (VERVs), boats, and motorcycles.
PRC noted that the measles vaccination program in BARMM that started this month will last until May of this year.
“The PRC wants to make sure that the vaccine is indeed going to work and will not cause further problems. Our people must have vaccinators that can assist them,” PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Richard Gordon said.
“The government doesn’t have enough. Our volunteers have gone to the mountains as they ride horses to go there, they ride boats. We have bakuna (vaccination) buses, and positioned vaccination stations so that people can easily access vaccines,” the chairman added.
Citing the organization's vaccination during the peak of Covid-19, the PRC cited that it had more than 5 million people vaccinated where“It outnumbered other testing laboratories in the country,” it added.
