The local government of Malabon City conducted a preliminary and swimwear competition for the 42 candidates of "Ginoo at Binibining Malabon" on Thursday, April 11.

The event was held at the M&A Resort in Barangay Maysilo, Malabon City.
According to City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (CTCAO) officer-in-charge Ms. Catherine Larracas, the swimwear competition was intended to evaluate the physical fitness, poise, style, and confidence of the candidates in their bodies.
The preliminary interview assessed their communication skills, intelligence, and personality.

She also added that the competition was an integral part of the contest as they contributed to the scores of the candidates, determining their advancement to the next round of the competition.
In selecting the Final 5 candidates -- five for Ginoo and five for Binibini, they will consider their scores from the preliminary round, which include the swimwear competition, talent competition, tambobong festival attire, and evening gown in a total score of one-hundred percent.

The selection of the 2024 Ginoo at Binibining Malabon winners will be based on the candidates' wit and intelligence (40%), beauty and poise (30%), and confidence and personality (30%).
Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said the candidates demonstrated their confidence in influencing the youth of the city.
In this part of the competition, the candidates not only showcase their ability to wear swimwear and answer various questions, but also demonstrate their confidence in presenting themselves to the public, influencing the people of Malabon especially the youth, to stay fit and healthy, and to have knowledge of various social issues that indicate their readiness to help address these problems),” she said.

Last March 22, the city government introduced the 42 candidates that represented their barangays at the FisherMall, Malabon.
The competition is part of the activities for the upcoming Malabon’s 23rd Cityhood Anniversary on April 21, and the 425th founding anniversary on May 21.
It focuses on the talents, skills, wits, and dedication of the candidates to empower their fellow Malabueños.
In addition, the competition also represents gender equality among the candidates and it serves as a platform for promotion of the local culture, heritage, and arts that is related to the history of the city.
The grand coronation night of Ginoo at Binibining Malabon 2024 will be on May 21.
