6 areas experience 'dangerous' heat index on April 12

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) recorded a “dangerous” heat index in six locations on Friday, April 12.
PAGASA said the highest heat index on Friday was 43 degrees Celsius (°C), registered in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Roxas City, Capiz; and Iloilo City, Iloilo.
Dagupan City's heat index was slightly lower than the 44°C recorded in the previous four days.
Meanwhile, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Aborlan, Palawan; and Cotabato City had a heat index of 42°C on Friday.
PAGASA said a heat index of 42°C to 51°C falls within the “danger” category because “heat exhaustion and cramps are likely,” and “heat stroke is probable with continued activity.”
It defines the heat index as the measurement of how hot it feels when relative humidity is combined with the actual air temperature.
PAGASA recorded the country’s highest heat index so far this year of 48°C in Roxas City, Capiz, on March 27.
