Heat index in Dagupan City may reach 44°C for 5th straight day

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Dagupan City in Pangasinan could hit a heat index of 44 degrees Celsius (°C) for the fifth day in a row on Friday, April 12.
The city has been experiencing a heat index of 44°C since April 8.
PAGASA said a heat index of 42°C to 51°C falls within the “danger” category because “heat exhaustion and cramps are likely,” and “heat stroke is probable with continued activity.”
Based on the PAGASA’s forecast, five other areas may also have a “dangerous” heat index on Friday.
These are Bacnotan, La Union (43°C); Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (42°C); Aborlan, Palawan (42°C); Catarman, Northern Samar (42°C); and Cotabato City, Maguindanao (42°C).
PAGASA defines the heat index as the measurement of how hot it feels when relative humidity is combined with the actual air temperature.
It recorded the country’s highest heat index so far this year of 48°C in Roxas City, Capiz, on March 27.
