Amid the extremely hot weather being experienced by the country due to the warm and dry season combined with the effects of El Niño, the World Health Organization (WHO) Philippines has released six useful tips for the public on dealing with high temperatures.

In a social media post on April 10, the organization shared advice, titled “Protect yourself from extreme heat.”
In the first tip, WHO Philippines urged the public to stay hydrated.
"Keep yourself hydrated, and avoid alcohol, too much caffeine, and sugar," WHO Philippines advised.

They also recommended wearing “light-colored, loose-fitting clothes of natural materials.”
Moreover, WHO Philippines reminded parents to "ensure that children are taking rest when they're playing outdoors" and recommended avoiding "strenuous" physical activities if possible.

The organization also advised the public to "avoid going outside during the hottest time of the day" and recommended that if individuals are outdoors, they should know when to take a rest and find some shade.

In connection with these tips, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the country may experience up to 44 degrees Celsius (°C) heat index on April 11 and 12.
