Thousands of Muslims celebrate Eid’l Fitr in Zamboanga City


ZAMBOANGA CITY – Thousands of Muslims converged at the Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Stadium here on Wednesday, April 10, for their congregational prayers in celebration of Eid’l Fitr.

Sheikh Ashraf Radjuli led the Eid prayer in culmination of the month-long Ramadan, a period characterized by fasting, prayers, and sacrifice.

Mosques in this city were also filled with worshippers as Muslims celebrated the holiest day of the year.

Mayor John Dalipe here issued Executive Order JD 2024- 026 for the use of the sports complex and the temporary closure of certain streets within its vicinity and at the Grand Mosque in Barangay Santa Barbara.

Security personnel were deployed to ensure order in venues for prayer.

The Bangsamoro Darul Ifta, through an official announcement on Tuesday, April 9, confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon during moon-sighting activities in the Bangsamoro region and other parts of the country.

The sighting of the crescent moon signals the end of the Ramadan period and the celebration of Eid’l Fitr.
