National University bolstered its Final Four twice-to-beat bid after making quick work of Ateneo, 25-22, 25-16, 25-15, in the eliminations of the UAAP Season 86 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday night, April 10, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Lady Bulldogs left the Blue Eagles on the verge of elimination for their ninth win against two losses.
While NU has already secured its spot in the semifinals, Ateneo is struggling to keep its bid alive with a 3-8 record in the fifth place in the standings behind Far Eastern University.
With the Lady Bulldogs’ extended dominance, University of the East and Adamson are now a loss away each from being ousted.
Alyssa Solomon led all scorers with 23 points in just three sets off 19 attacks and four service aces, while Vange Alinsug had 15 markers in the swift victory.
NU was simply dominant from start until the match point and left no space for Ateneo to overtake at any turn.
No player for Ateneo breached the double digit mark with AC Miner scoring nine points in the losing effort.
As of now, top seed University of Santo Tomas and defending champion De La Salle are likely candidates for the coveted twice-to-beat advantage with only one loss each in the standings.
However, should NU sweep its remaining games while La Salle and UST drop their scheduled matches, it former remains in the hunt for the Final Four armor.
